my independent hours was pretty simple , because everyday im @ church helping with childrens ministry. i love kids and i enjoy spendng ime with them and trying to sho the younger boys things to do and not todo. a lot of the kids look up to me and see me as a role model. i feel that when i go in there with those kids that who i am is not the only thing that is important is risk but also who they are because they follow me. it is something i volunteer to do and i dont mind taking a coulple hours out of my sunday to help the community more so the youth.

may9- service learner

During this week i was absent but i happen to research some other things about my group although i was not present. I found out that fundred dollar is very similar to an organization created during the 80's in australia. service learner helped me recognize that there is a lot that still needs to be done in this world and someone has to do it. i am proud of myself to kno that i have decided to be that person to create a change.

service learning-may, 1

Yesterday we began to write letters to printing organizations because in order to create the money we will need a printing company. We also discuss who we will need to help us as sponsors and what we will need from them. Everyone created a letter to a printing company and then we will decide which is the best to send to all the printers to represent what we are about and how they can help us complete our goals

new orleans service learning-april. 17, 2008

Yesterday we didnt accomplish much due to the students behavior and the lack of interest in the topic presented. the topic was not exciting so it was something that was easy to enjoy. it was actually a pretty interest part of the project but it majority of the class wouldnt agree becasuse they attention was somewhere else. the truth of the matter is there is to much work to accomplish with ver little time and even fewer minutes for foolishness.

native son chapters

Wall Too Wall

Within this chapter we as readers get an inside perspective of the mindset that Bigger Thomas has on his life. From the time that he spends trying to kill a rat that made it’s way into his one bedroom apartment to the reading of the words “YOU CAN’T WIN” flying across the sky liner of Southside Chicago, and all in between is a young black male who is stuck inside an mindset which can’t seem to stem past the walls of his little mind and more so poverty stricken Southside Chicago. So how will Bigger escape this little world of his, which does not go past those four walls? The answer is yet to be determined…………

Please Say No

Bigger and his friends come up with a plan to rob a store owned by a white man by the name of Mr. Blum. This is a turning point in the book of fear for the fact that Bigger and his gang have never robbed a white man. As Bigger forces his friend Gus to go along with the plan when he really wants him to say no. But why, Because Bigger is nothing more then a poser under pressure. Bigger really does not want to go along with it but to keep his manly image he will do what ever it takes to keep his name. So will he go through with it? Who knows what will happen at quarter too three…………

Quarter Too Three

At this point Bigger is pleased with the lateness of Gus. He’s happy because he is praying that they do not have to go through with the plan. But not too much later did Gus show up and bigger surly beat that living hell out of him. Bigger did that because he didn’t want to face his fear of robbing a white man. So how did he handle it? Caused a conflict with the group to prevent the plans from going through but in the larger picture to keep his name.

NHD Reflection

This years national history day was not nearly as difficult as last years, simply because i had experienced the enormous amount of time and effort in the year prior to the present. Now this sounds remarkable but unfortunitely i haven't been too honest. Honestly this year I attempted to tackled a far stronger and complexed opponent, making the story of my journey to success appear more triumphant, but clearly more complicated. My NHD project consist of the commercialization of hip hop altering its original intent from protest to finacial manipulation. Many ask what does that mean? In basic terms hip hop once was something that spoke for the people, because it was powered by the people, but in modern society it is no longer ran by the peolpe but instead the Corporate America that can not relate to the people, so how could it speak for them? Since this dramatic change occurred my partner Todd Latimore and i decided that we wanted to know how this change appeared and who caused it and what would it take to get it the original hip hop back. This project showed the history of hip hop which is a culture that is prodamnitally black, therefore inlarged my knowledge of my peolple. My project reflects how over time hip hop has placed the wait of its existance in hands that aren't strong enought to carry it.

Answer: I would flea the country because modern technology makes it very difficult to commit a crime and get away with it.

Analysis-
Question: Can you compare yourself in any situation you faced?
Answer: Yes. Sometimes I feel better when i do something wrong because it gives me a
scence of masculinity and independence.

Synthesis-
Question: If you could right a song about bigger, what would you call it?
Answer: I would call it fear- less; as in two words fear and fearless. This title would symbolize how bigger faced so much fear in his life, but it is not untill he is scared to death literally (he killed mary due to fear of being court in her room) that he becomes fear- less.

National History Day

Hip-hop today is probably the most influential form of entertainment and communication in modern society. Although many humans love this expression of art, hip-hop is also the most controversial form of entertainment and communication in modern society and perhaps ever. I chose to do this project originally to open the eyes of the world to see hip-hop as its true essence; you could say I was defending it in a way. But I didn’t just want to attack those against it I wanted people that love hip hop to see the difference in what it is now and what its original purpose was. Ironically as I was researching the web to find evidence to attempt on defending hip-hop, I recognize that my task was nearly impossible. There was no defending a criminal who does everything wrong and not only admits it publicly but brags as if it the right thing to do. Hip-hop has become nothing more than a way to express violence, drugs, money and sex. Hip-hop has become its own enemy. Hip-hop once was a way to protest or express feelings about major political and environmental issues. Doesn’t it make you wonder how did hip-hop drift so far from its original purpose? Well if you didn’t think that I did, so I began to search the Internet on why hip-hop is the way it is currently. My national history day project is on the commercialization of underground music altering its original intent from protest to financial manipulation. Hip-hop started in the 60’s but wasn’t actually labeled as hip-hop until the 70’s. People try to blame what hip-hop is today on the government. Actually people blame the government for a lot that happens in America. And the government is responsible for a lot of things, but Americans fail to realize there is higher power than the government and it’s called money. Any and every thing that happens revolves around money and that’s something not even the government can control. The wealthy whites hated hip-hop just like anything else that quickly became popular in the black community. But since hip hop became so strong because people could relate to it, the wealthy whites couldn’t stop it, so instead of taking its power they joined it and promoted it for something other than politics, something less harmful to there money that revolves around politics, but something they could still make money off. Because they couldn’t beat them in the popularity contest they out smarted them and eventually gain controll still. Hip-hop is a product of the rich whites and government, who are now the same people that are trying to put an end to it. They want to abolish it because they can’t control it so they can’t make money off hip hop. Hip-hop went from a form of to that was pure and from the heart to a fight for authority and a large scandal to gain wealth. Now do you wonder why is it the way it is?

My Thoughts on School Religion

Ooh ooh ahhh ahhh! When you listen to this form of communication used buy monkeys, which are related to the ape family that humans supposedly descend from, is it not difficult to believe that in a matter of a few million years this would transform to a language that is communicate through words and numbers. This is just as impractical as believing that a higher power with supernatural strength and wisdom created this earth without leaving trace of evidence accept primary sources, yet it is unconstitutional to teach religion.
The argument between evolution and ID is not if religion is true but is it to be taught legally, but in some fashion isn’t the theory of evolution a religion. The word religion descends from an 11th century Latin word religio meaning careful pondering of divine things. The English word religion means a faith or belief. But most scientists who support evolution not only support it but they believe it and in some instant, they worship it, so because it’s not divine or spiritual but instead scientific is it stills not a religion. It’s like saying “I have no religion because I don’t believe in anything” but that is an oxymoron, to not believe in any thing is still believing in something because you believe that no religion is accurate.
People in America in some ways are the most disingenuous, hypocritical nature of people. They fight so that religion can’t be taught but when tragedy strikes; as it usually does we are quick to depend on the religion that is not worthy of being taught. Americans expect god to bless America, they claim they trust god yet they don’t think that religion should be a part of the public school curriculum. Americas only believe in god when it s convient.
As a Christian who is far from naïve and is not easily persuaded I have no problem at all with learning about others religion even if it totally contradicts my own, but what I do find to be an awful large dilemma is if they can teach me these extreme theories which are not fact, then why cant my theory which is not fact be taught.
